Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), the Faculty of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences (FBSB) and the Enzyme and Microbial Technology Research Centre (EMTech) share a strong commitment to advancing biological research and translating scientific discoveries into meaningful applications. This seminar will introduce our research strength, niche, postgraduate training and engagement with industry and society. It will also highlight the diverse work of EMTech members in enzyme and microbial discovery, protein science, structural biology, biocatalysis and sustainable biotechnology. More importantly, the seminar aims to explore new opportunities for collaboration between UPM and the Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST). By bringing together researchers with complementary expertise in biochemistry, enzymology, microbiology, molecular biosciences and related areas, both institutions can identify shared interests and develop meaningful research connections. Potential areas of cooperation include joint research projects, postgraduate co-supervision, student and researcher exchanges, shared access to specialised facilities, collaborative publications and joint grant applications. Through open scientific discussion and continued engagement, UPM and NAIST can build productive, mutually beneficial and sustainable collaborations over the long term.
