Why did you choose Division of Biological Science at NAIST?

As a biologist and aspiring embryologist, I have been interested in NAIST since 2015, when my lecturer introduced his laboratory and shared his experiences of campus life there. Since then, I have always aspired to pursue my studies at NAIST.

What do you like about Division of Biological Science at NAIST?

The Division of Biological Science at NAIST is like a human body, supported by various types of organs and cells. Everyone has helped me pursue my studies. Professors, teachers, lab technicians, and lab mates are like the cells that support me, as a small cell myself, trying to adapt to a new environment. The cutting-edge facilities have also given me new insights and knowledge about the unknown world. The kindness and support system here are truly genuine.

What is your research topic?

My research focuses on goblet cell development. I use zebrafish as an animal model to investigate the role of goblet cells in the skin. We hope that this study will provide new insights into the prevention and treatment of diseases related to goblet cells.

How is the atmosphere in your lab?

It has been an enjoyable experience! The professor, teachers, and lab mates have all been very supportive of my research and study. We engage in many discussions to enhance the quality of our work while also creating a fun and collaborative atmosphere.

What is your goals for the future?

My future goal is to become an excellent researcher, nurture the next generation of scientists, and conduct independent research in my field of interest. I also aspire to be both a researcher and an entrepreneur. As a husband and father, I am equally committed to keeping my family happy and being present for them at every stage of life.

What are your recomended place around NAIST?

NAIST is the perfect place in every season. It offers everything international students typically hope to experience—cherry blossoms in spring, vibrant red maple leaves in autumn, even a light snowfall in winter, and a pleasantly mild summer. There are plenty of places around that cater to various personal preferences and interests

How comfortable is the dormitory? If you are not a dormitory student, please tell us about your commute.

I live in a dormitory, which is just a five-minute walk from the lab. The room is spacious enough for me, and I can cook my meals every day. Since I enjoy cooking, I often prepare my bento. Additionally, it's a comfortable environment for studying on my own.

Tell us about something you think that only you have experienced.

I am proud to be pursuing my dream of studying abroad at NAIST. I first learned about NAIST in 2015, I had often watched its promotional videos before going to campus, which inspired and motivated me to chase my goal of studying in Japan. However, the journey was far from easy—I faced multiple setbacks before finally achieving my dream of being admitted to NAIST.
