Why did you choose Division of Biological Science at NAIST?

In 2016, I was inspired by my senior who was studied in NAIST by listening to her presentation about research environment under devision of Biological sciences and life in NAIST. Biological science devision has a very strong research impact factors and significant new discovered knowledges toward plant and animal cells/system. The curriculum in Biological science devision not only suitable for becoming efficient knowledges for doing research but also becoming independent researcher in the future. By this reason, in devision of biological science also provided opportunities to pursue international research trining in UC Davis, which help student to develop scientific thinking and critical problem solving in international research environment. Moreover, not only scientific knowledge that Biological devision give priority but scientific communication is also one of soft-skilled for a good scientist and researcher. In addition to this, Bio-summer camp also help students to develop their research & scientific presentation and would be able to communicate our new discovered scientific knowledges to others people.

What do you like about Division of Biological Science at NAIST?

Devision of Biological science provided strong international research & discussion envirionment which is a good incubator for becoming researcher and scientist. Furthermore, in devision of biological sciences also prepared the student for their thesis defence by annual bio-summer camp which every student will have chance to attend and listen to student fellows current research presentation. Additionally, international workshop helps student to came across with variety of knowledges- sharing with other and help student to improve our scientific communication for our research career path.

What is your research topic?

My research is focusing on data science to reveal the molecular interactions in lamellipodia and phagocytosis of macrophage cells by a combination of their gene expression profiles and their images. Deep learning has been an approach for understanding and distinguishes differences using computers. This deep learning is a kind of machine learning, of which representative applications include computer vision, natural language processing, and also medicine. Deep learning helps us to understand the small changes in their tiny fine structures, which are sometimes indistinguishable by our eyes. I believed that data science knowledge can be revolutionary tools toward the novel discovery of biological knowledge.

How is the atmosphere in your lab?

My atmosphere in my lab is very comfortable and international student friendly. In my lab we have our core time working our from 9:00 - 17:00 PM. In our lab we have journal paper presentation on every Monday and progress report on every Friday to keep update to our professor. Beside research and lab activities, our lab usually join running event organising by waist called Ekiden as well as we have our one day trip to boost up the relation and team building in our lab. Before covid 19 pandemic, we usually held BBQ during spring and autumn as well as having lunch together under sakura tree during cherry blossom season.

What are your goals for the future?

My future goal is to become young researcher fellow in research and development department as well as research related business analytics. And another goal of mine is to develop scientific & computing learning and education in Thailand for student. Now, I am currently running Saturday school to teach and inspire young student on what they are interest. I think this could be a great start to change our society with scientific driven knowledges.

What are your recomended place to eat around NAIST?

Mostly, for international student I would recommend sushi restaurant near Hakken Nara tomigaika station called 'sushiro'. But if you are interest in non-japanese restaurant, I would recommend 'Saint. Marie' nearby Gakken Kita Ikoma station as well as 'Louis siana mama' opposite to Okuwa department store. Furthermore, if you are a big fan of ramen, 'Arno ramen' in Tomio station and 'Moku moku' is the place that you should't miss.

What are your favorite places around NAIST?(fun places, highlights)

Around NAIST there is one temple nearby Naohiko which is very nice during cherry blossom. and also I enjoyed growing my vegetables in green lab during summer season.

What are your tips for enjoying life at NAIST?

I usually enjoy life at NAISt by participating to severals event such as the bus tour from Nara International Exchange saloon. Beside, I also enjoy kung fu practicing every Wednesday and Basketball on Monday. Sometimes, I did volunteer to teach kungfu to disability people in Nara and also giving some advice to high school student on their independent study subject at Unebi high school.

How comfortable is the dormitory?

Dormitory is pretty comfortable for one person, but still the share bathroom might cause you a bit difficult if you never faced this before. Also NAIST already provide basic accommodation furniture inside the room, so I didn't found any difficult to live in student dormitory.

What is your motto?

My motto is 'Nothing is impossible for a willing heart'

Please praise yourself!

I think I am friendly to people to talk with lots of people. I am very patient in high pressure environment and very optimistic. I like to full fill other people with laugh and smile. I believe that if people are nice to each other and think about each other more, our society can better and this better can start from ourselves.
