Abstract: The analysis of structure-function relationships in biology must integrate features at multiple length scales. Cell morphogenetic processes occurring during plant development are crucial determinants of metabolic and mechanical functionality of mature organs. Through 4D imaging, computational modeling and micromechanical testing we can obtain a deeper understanding of the hierarchical architectural concepts underpinning metabolic processes.
