Transposons control by heterochromatin

Title Transposons control by heterochromatin
Lecturer Dr. Frédéric Berger (Gregor Mendel Institute)
Language English
Date&Time 12/02/2025 (Tue) 15:00~16:00
Venue Biological Science Seminar Hall(L11)
Detail

Nucleosomes, the octameric histone complexes that form the fundamental repeating unit of chromatin, confer eukaryotes with specific manners of protecting their genome from the activities of transposable elements. The Berger lab design strategies to address the functions of chromatin and its evolutionary origins. New insights in the mechanisms involved in repressing transposable elements will be presented together with synthetic strategies that attempt to reconstruct their evolution.
