Please tell us about your own research and what you find interesting about it.
We study on the reproductive process of flowering plants. Using advanced imaging techniques, we explore how pollen acquires fertilization ability and successfully finds female cells. Seeing previously unseen phenomena under a microscope is always inspiring and offers a glimpse into the mysteries of life.
Please tell us about the difficulties and joys of the research field.
The microscopy room is kept dark, so we sometimes forget to eat lunch or even miss the last train. Experiments with living organisms do not always go as planned, but that unpredictability is part of the excitement of biology.
Please tell us about the expected results and social significance of the project.
Pollen development and fertilization are essential for food production and energy generation. By understanding the mechanisms underlying germ cell development and controlling fertilization, stable seed production under environmental stress can be achieved, contributing to agriculture.
