Neural Regeneration and Brain Repair

Please tell us about your own research and what you find interesting about it.

Our research primarily focuses on fundamental studies aimed at neural regeneration and the restoration of brain function. For example, we have developed novel methods to convert brain immune cells to neurons in the injured brain.

Please tell us about the difficulties and joys of the research field.

One challenge is that experimental results do not always align with expectations. Another is that achieving results can take a significant amount of time. For instance, in a study where we induced the neuronal conversion from immune cells, it took eight years from conception to publication. However, the overwhelming response following the publication was astonishing—almost intimidating.

Please tell us about the expected results and social significance of the project.

As research progresses, there is potential to develop new treatments for neurological disorders and functional decline caused by aging. The ultimate goal is to improve the quality of life for patients and their families.

A message of support for students who are about to take the exam

If you want to join our lab, we would love to hear from you. Let's dive into the fascinating world of science together!

What websites, books, review articles, and so on, do you recommend for studying in order to apply for the lab ?

I recommend reading the papers published by our laboratory.

What do you do to keep yourself fresh?

Spending time with my family. I often come up with brilliant ideas while being with them.
