We (Kimata team) are an independent research unit working in the Laboratory of Applied Stress Microbiology, Graduate School of Biological Sciences, Nara Institute of Science and Technology. Our aim is to elucidate the molecular mechanism and the physiological significance of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-stress response using yeast cells as a model organism.

The ER stress sensor Ire1 clusters and forms foci upon ER stress.

Fluorescent-microscopic image of yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae cells. Green: Immunofluorescent staining of HA-epitope-tagged Ire1; Red: Immunofluorescent staining of ER-located molecular chaperone BiP (Cy5); Blue: DAPI.
