NAIST EXPO 2024 was held on Saturday, November 16.
NAIST EXPO 2024 was held on Saturday, November 16.
This event, which had previously been held as an open campus event, was renamed "NAIST EXPO" last year, and by planning and holding many events, it can now be enjoyed by a wider range of people, including local residents.
This year marked the second time the event was being held, continued from previous year with food trucks from famous restaurants and a flea market. We also had kids' bowling session with players from the professional football team “NARA CLUB” and a police car ride experience in cooperation with the Nara Prefectural Police Department. In addition, each division held "hands-on programs" to introduce the possibilities and pleasures of science to a wide range of people, from children to adults, in an easy-to-understand manner, and those who had pre-registered visited NAIST and got to experience cutting-edge science and technology.
This year, in the Division of Biological Science, we held two experiential programs: “Let's take a look through a microscope” to observe tiny creatures in baby sardine and animal cells, and “Let's learn about plant specimens" to learn about biodiversity and actually create resin specimens. We then set up a "Volunteer Booth by NAIST Bio Alumni" to enjoy casual conversations with participants about their research and student life at NAIST, their subsequent progress after graduation, and their relationship with society.
In the first-floor lobby of Biological Science Building, several labs introduced their daily research activities and achievements by displaying panels. In addition, this year we held a "Guidance for Successful Applicants" for those who have already passed the entrance exam and plan to enroll next year, as well as a briefing session on entrance exam and a consultation session on graduate school admissions for prospective students, where students eagerly asked questions about specific research topics and entrance examinations, and received advice directly from the faculty members.
Although it started raining in the afternoon, "NAIST EXPO 2024" was filled with excitement and ended in great success.
