The Laboratory of Environmental Microbiology, which focuses on the diversity of functions possessed by a wide variety of microorganisms, is pioneering a new frontier in microbiology by identifying microorganisms with unique functions, elucidating the mechanisms of those functions, and gaining insights into their biological significance. Our goal is to translate our findings into technologies that will contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.
