D1 students from Saijo Laboratory participated in NAIST Granite Program workshop 2024. NAIST is developing NAISTGranite Program to improve the quality of doctoral students. They have been selected for this program and are receiving a variety of support.

Ms.Tsuchida, a D1 student, gave a research presentation at the 12th Plant Peptides and Receptors Meeting held in Wageningen, Netherlands from 9/11 to 9/13.

Professor Saijo was invited as a Plenary Lecture speaker at the Asian Conference on Plant Pathology 2024 held in Changchun, China from August 3rd to August 6th, and gave a research presentation.

Assistant Professor John Jewish A. Dominguez joined Saijo Lab!
Hi everyone. I am John Jewish A. Dominguez from the Philippines. I started working as an Assistant Professor in Saijo Lab from July 1. I am interested in tissue specific plant-microbe interactions, especially during pathogenesis. I have also worked with bacteria contributing to plant’s defense against fungal pathogens. I hope to integrate environmental factors affecting these interactions here in Saijo Lab. My pastimes include cooking, traveling and photography.

From the end of May to June, we planted rice seedlings in multiple fields. Sometimes we had to work in the rain. Hope the seedlings grow well !
