Professor Saijo visited Eliza Loo, a graduate of our lab who is currently working at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf. She seems to be doing well!

We attended the IS-MPMI confgress held in Cologne, Germany. We enjoyed discussions on research and, of course, the beautiful cityscape of Cologne!

Professor Saijo and a master’s student visited the laboratory of Dr. Yang Bai, PI of the School of Life Sciences at Peking University.

We had a barbecue to welcome M1 students! We enjoyed good food and drinks, and conversations. Everyone had a nice smile!

The paper “Field Dynamics of the Root Endosphere Microbiome Assembly in Paddy Rice Cultivated under No Fertilizer Input” has been published in Plant and Cell Physiology. This research was also featured in AAAS’s EurekAlert! .

A doctoral student attended Phyllosphere 12 (12th International Symposium on Leaf Surface Microbiology) at OIST . He seemed to enjoy discussions with many international participants, and the beautiful beach near OIST.

The rice planting season has begun. This year we planed to plant sample seedlings in more fields than usual. We started rice planting at the end of May while watching weather, and thanks to the efforts of the students in our lab, we completed it in early June.
