Welcome to Yoji KAWANO's web page

Our ultimate goal is to create a new plant immune system. We have been working on immune receptors and the small GTPaseOsRac1, which are major components in plant immunity. A comprehensive understanding of R protein and OsRac1 functions would allow the design of plant immune system in order to control pathogens. To address this issue, we have been investigating rice immunity as a model system with a combination of several cutting edge technologies including biochemical analysis, live imaging and gene targeting.
